First Aid Squad Becomes Highly Visible (5/27/2009)

Summit EMS new high visblity jacketsThe Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad has received new all-season jackets for its members thanks to the generosity of the Summit Area Public Foundation, the Manley-Winser Foundation and the Wildwood Foundation.

The jackets meet the latest federal standards to insure a higher degree of safety when members are assisting patients on highways and streets. Squad President John Staunton said, "Our members are our most valuable asset and the new high visibility jackets will keep them safer in responding to emergencies on city streets and the highways in our area. Our thanks goes out to the Foundations who have supported us so we may provided the best and safest medical care to those in need."

The First Aid Squad is always looking for new volunteers. The Squad provides all needed training, uniforms and equipment for its members.  An Emergency Medical Technician course is offered at their building.  For information, please call 908-277-9479, or visit their web site at www.summitems.org.
