Summit Squad Kicks Off Annual Fund Drive (9/25/2010)

Summit First Aid Squad, June 2010 (Bill Marvin photo) The Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad has begun its annual appeal to the citizens of Summit to support its operations for the coming year. “Many people are not aware that we are funded entirely by donations, and receive no money from the city or other municipal budgets,” said Steve Mortenson, President of the First Aid Squad. "We are staffed twenty-four seven by over sixty trained volunteers so that we can provide Emergency Medical Services vital to our community free of charge."

The First Aid Squad handles approximately 2,000 emergency medical calls each year, and has become an invaluable Summit institution. "We could not do this without the generosity of our neighbors, and we look forward to their continued support as we enter our 49th year of service," added John Staunton, chairperson of the Squad’s Annual Fund Drive this year.

The Squad conducts its appeal through mailings to the residents of Summit. Donations can also be made by accessing their website at www.summitems.org. (Bill Marvin photo)

The all volunteer First Aid Squad is always looking for new members to join its ranks. All needed training, uniforms and equipment is provided. For information, please call 908-277-9479, or visit their web site at www.summitems.org.
