Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad EMTs Patty Herzog, Richard Raymond and Mel Harari received a commendation for saving the life of a patient found in cardiac arrest. (Photo by Kari Phair)3 members of the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad's Wednesday Day Crew used their EMT skills to successfully revive a patient in cardiac arrest earlier this month. The crew used their cardiac defribrillator, delivered one shock and restored the patient's heartbeat. The squad learned last week that the patient has been discharged from the hospital and returned to their normal life.

Squad volunteers Richard Raymond, Patty Herzog, Mel Harari were awarded the "CPR Save" pin by Squad Captain Kari Phair. The First Aid Squad reminds all that early treatment provides the best chance for survival following any serious medical emergency. It's best to call 9-1-1 at the first signs of a heart attack, stroke breathing difficulty or other acute medical emergency.

The all volunteer First Aid Squad is always looking for new members to join its ranks. All needed training, uniforms and equipment is provided. For information, please call 908-277-9479, or visit their web site web site.
